Sedna is the sea goddess who created marine animals in the mythology of the Inuit people. The Inuits depend mainly on the sea, an inexhaustible source, for their subsistence. Both feared and respected, Sedna helps bring balance to the world. When she is calm, her hair appears to be neatly combed. Here, she is surrounded by birds, which most likely evoke her soul or spirit, the inua.
