Crystal cluster of stibnite (antimonite) needles covered at the base by a layer of quartz. Very malleable, lead was used as early as antiquity to make pipes and roofing. Alloying with antimony, which is harder, played a fundamental role in the development of printing in the fifteenth century. Domestic use of these materials is now forbidden in France.
