Exceptional cluster of azurite (copper carbonate) crystals measuring up to three centimetres along their edges. A few touches of velvety green malachite appear locally. Copper played an important role as of the third millennium, as it was one of the first metals to be used, first hammered and then melted. Alloyed with tin, it forms bronze, which is stronger. This first alloy was used on a large scale to make weapons, jewellery, tools and household objects.
